Kickball Rules
Schedule - All games are to be played at the time, date and place specified on the schedule posted online.
Roster - Each team can have as many players as they choose. The roster minimum for kickball is 10 players.
Forfeits - Teams need a minimum of 7 players to start a game. The 7- player minimum must consist of at least two female players present during the game. If a team cannot field the 7-player requirement, they are allowed to pick up players to meet the 7-player requirement but no more than that to start the game. (Additional subs up to 10 players total can be approved at opposing captain's discretion)
If your team is not able to field a team for any given week, please notify Prime Time 48 hours in advance so we can notify the opposing team.
Forfeits will be scored as 10-0 as the final match score.
Teams that forfeit 2 or more games will not be eligible for playoffs.
Substitute Players - Players will be given a free one-time allowance to try the league out and play with the team of their choice. After their first free game there will be a 10-dollar cash fee per game per season for them to play. If the player does not pay the 10-dollar cash fee they will not be allowed to play. If that player still insists on playing and does so, the team will then forfeit their game. All money paid before week 6 will go towards that player's registration if they decide to join the league before the week 6 deadline.
Field Lights - If for some reason the field lights turn off mid game the game will be finished at that time. The score will be considered final and inputted as is. If this occurs during finals, a make-up game date will be given to finish the game out to totality.
Taunting - No taunting will be allowed. Penalties for taunting will be at the ref's discretion after a verbal warning to the offending team. If a player taunts while entering the end zone without a defender having a realistic chance of pulling their flag a penalty will be enforced when the opposing team begins their drive.
Base Coaches and Dug Out - Base coaches are allowed at both 1st and 3rd base to advise players running bases. Base coaches must remain at least 5 feet away from their respective base so they are not seen as a player on base to the opposing team or official. All other players MUST remain in their own dugout while waiting their turn to kick. There is no “on deck circle” for the next kicker in line so the “on deck” player must also remain in their dug out until it is their turn to kick.
Equipment
All games will be played with a 10'' rubber kickball. Kickballs are provided by Prime Time Sports League.
Cleats are allowed; however, all cleats must be plastic molded. NO METAL SPIKES OR SCREW IN METAL TIPPED CLEATS.
No gloves or additional catching aids will be permitted while on defense.
The infield / base paths are marked with 3 bases, 1 safety base at 1 st base, and a home plate. Cones will mark pitching space as well as batter's box.
Rosters and Lineups
Games are played in a 10v10 format. Teams may not play with more than 7 male players on the field at any given time.
A team may field 7 players from their roster to start the game, however, two of those players must be female. If a team has less than 7 players, they can pick up players from another team to meet the 7-player minimum.
Kicking lineups must be presented to the umpire from each team before the game. Once the lineups have been submitted the lineup can no longer be changed.
All players must be listed in the kicking order.
Kicking order must consist of a 1 male - 1 female rotation. If a team has more of one gender the majority will stay consistent through the lineup and the minority will fill in order as necessary to meet this requirement.
If a player sustains an injury mid game the team captain must notify the umpire to remove the player from the lineup at no penalty to the team.
Game Play
All games are 50 minutes in length or 7 innings long, whichever comes first. Once the 50 minutes has expired a new full inning will not start but the current inning will be played out.
Regular season games can end in a tie.
Mercy rule will take place if a team is leading by more than 15 runs (after 3 innings have been played). If the home team is not leading, they will have the opportunity to kick at the bottom of the inning to attempt to keep the team from the mercy rule.
Kicking
The kicker can make contact with the ball anywhere behind the line formed by the cones marking the batters box as long as their planting foot is not outside of the kicking box.
The kicking box will be marked by 4 cones surrounding what would be the batters box for baseball.
Double kicks are not permitted. A double kick will be considered a foul ball.
If a player steps on the ball instead of kicking it or steps on a ball and tries to roll it as a kick it will be deemed a foul ball.
All kickers will start with a 0-0 count. Four balls will result in walk. Three strikes will result in an out. Four fouls will result in an out.
The strike zone is 1 foot above home plate, 1 foot out to each side of the front corners of home plate, and 1 foot from the back sides of home plate.
Kicks can be made with any part of the leg.
Bunting is allowed by any player but must be kicked at least 1 foot into fair territory.
There is no leading off from your base. If you lead off to gain a running advantage the umpire can rule you as out. There is also no stealing of bases. Players can not move from their base until the ball has been kicked.
There is no infield fly rule. All kicks are fair play and will need to be recovered by the defense.
Sliding is allowed if done so feet first. For safety reasons players can not slide into their base head first and if a player slides into a defender or attempts to break up a double play by sliding they will be considered out.
Players can overrun first base by running through the orange bag next to first.
If a runner intentionally or unintentionally gets hit by the ball before safely getting to their base than that player is ruled out.
Pitching
The pitcher must release the ball with at least one foot contacting the pitcher's mound.
The pitcher must roll the ball to home plate. If the pitcher throws the ball or hops the ball towards home plate the pitch will be considered a ball.
Pitches that bounce more than one foot above the ground at home plate will also be considered an illegal pitch and thus a ball.
The strike zone is 1 foot above home plate, 1 foot out to each side of the front corners of home plate, and 1 foot from the back sides of home plate.
Pitchers can intentionally walk a kicker if they feel the need to do so. (This can be done by letting the umpire know this is your intention) If a pitcher intentionally walks a kicker the kicker will be awarded two bases instead of the normal one base on a walk. If the pitcher pitches to the kicker in a manner that is deemed to be an intentional walk (umpires discretion) the kicker will be awarded two bases for their walk instead of the normal one base.
Fielding
There is no gender field positions for defense. Male and female players can play any position on the field they would like to.
Prior to the pitch there can not be more than 6 players in the infield.
In a 10 v 10 format there must be at least 3 female defenders on the field.
The pitcher and fielders must stand behind a parallel line that runs from 1 st base to 3rd base that runs across the pitcher's mound until the ball is kicked.
The catcher must stand outside of a four foot half circle radius from the back of batter box. They can stand to either side of the back of the batter box as long as they are four feet away from the back cone.
Any foul ball caught in the air is an out. If a foul ball is dropped in foul territory it will be a dead ball and considered a foul ball.
A defensive player can throw or kick the ball to another defender to make an out. If a ball is kicked to another defensive player, it may not contact the runner in the process. If a runner is hit with a kicked ball, they will be considered safe and all players will advance to their next base.
Defensive players can throw the ball at a runner to make the out. Balls that are thrown to make an out must hit a player between the knees and the shoulders. If a runner is hit in the neck/head, they will be considered safe unless they are sliding / ducking and cause the ball to hit them illegally. If a player is unintentionally hit below the knees they will be considered out, however, if the defender throws the ball intentionally towards the feet the umpire can deem the runner safe. (This will be at the umpire discretion)
Once all players stop advancing bases and the ball is returned to the pitcher the umpire will call time for a dead ball. Once time is called all players must stay on their base and defenders can return to their pre-kick positions. If kickers / runners are still trying to advance and the ball is thrown to the pitcher time will not be called until the play is truly dead.
Offensive interference - If an offensive player intentionally interferes with the play and makes it so defense is incapable of catching the ball (standing under it, blocking the defenders run path to the ball, hitting the ball with their body while running bases) that player will be deemed out and play will be stopped. Players will return to the bases they occupied at time of interference.
Playoffs
Playoffs will begin the week after all regular season games have been played.
The top four teams with the best record will advance to the playoff rounds. Additional teams may be added at the league's discretion based on the size of the league.
Playoff games cannot end in a tie.
Additional Changes
Additional rules and policies may be added or amended before or during the season. In the event that rules are changed or amended, they will be communicated to all players at the time of amendment.
